Kate's Baptism Day

After Ike changed our original plans to celebrate Kate's baptism, we decided to have a small group of our immediate family come and join us in the celebration. Kate enjoyed it very much, even clapping as the congregation looked on. She looked extra beautiful in the dress that Grandma made her.
We all went to breakfast afterwards, where Kate ate some cheerio's and pancakes.

Hurricane Ike Update

1 oak tree fell, 40 feet of fencing destroyed, minor roof leakage, a fridgeful of food trashed, 1 missed baptism, 16 days without power, 19 days without hot water, but we're doing just fine.

Kate has been a real trooper in the past couple of weeks after Hurricane Ike. We were at Grandma and Boompa's for the storm and came home to find our oak tree had uprooted and fell perfectly between our house and the neighbor's garage. It also managed to take out our swingset, fence, gas meter, and most of the power for the neighborhood. Without power and hot water we decided to spend some time in Austin with Aunt Melissa and Uncle Chris. They were gracious hosts to us as grateful evacuees. After coming back to Houston, a different neighbor let us borrow a generator to keep some food and fans on during the day. We got power back on Crystal's birthday and life is somewhat back to normal - if you call cold showers at 6 a.m. normal.

Here's a happy Kate playing with her water ration:
